Buttermilk Country's Images

California, USA
Description: High desert granite bouldering on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada in California. Located about ten minutes west of Bishop, the bouldering at the 'Milks tends to be high, sharp and hard. Classic problems include Ironman Traverse, High Plains Drifter, Stained Glass, Mandala and Spectre.   History: Bouldering in the Buttermilk Country has evolved from its early days of rock scrambling and scree running to its current position as one of the premier winter spots in the US.
Camping: Dispersed, free bouldering in the Buttermilk Country is sweet. No water, no toilets, no fires without a permit.
