Taratara's Images

Northland, New Zealand
Description: From a great distance, across the bay, this place looks amazing: A tall limestone mountain with a scatter of limestone boulders below. From up close though, they're revealed to be covered in a thick layer of moss and lichen. Being a Maori reserve means that touching the rock is already looked down upon, let alone scraping off all the coatings of life to reveal climbable boulders. Nonetheless, the view is one of the best, with a thick matte of grass that squooshes and bounces under your feet or falling ass, rolling vibrant-green hills that descend into a large bay and grazing sheep all around, this place is wonderful just to visit and look with wonder upon.   History: Sacred Maori land.
Camping: Beautiful home to sleep in across the major road.
